Dr. Brian Joyce, PhD

Dr. Brian Joyce is the President and CEO of Metallurgical Solutions, Inc. (MSI), an accredited metallurgical laboratory providing advanced testing, failure analysis, and expert consulting. With over two decades of experience in materials engineering and industrial forensics, Dr. Joyce leads MSI with a commitment to precision, speed, and client-focused solutions.

A Career Built on Expertise

Dr. Joyce’s technical journey began as a Flight Test Engineer in the U.S. Air Force, where he tested advanced navigation systems on the F-15E fighter. His commitment to engineering excellence led him to pursue advanced studies in materials science, earning:

  • BS in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University

  • MS in Cost Analysis from the Air Force Institute of Technology

  • MS and PhD in Materials Engineering from Wright State University, with doctoral research on thermomechanical processing of titanium alloys

Since 2000, Dr. Joyce has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Wright State University, teaching Mechanical and Materials Engineering.

As CEO of MSI, Dr. Joyce has built a trusted, accredited laboratory serving industries including aerospace, defense, automotive, and more. He is an active member of ASM International, TMS, and Alpha Sigma Mu, and has been recognized with:

  • Tau Beta Pi Eminent Engineer Award (2016)

  • Wright State University Alumni of the Year (2017)

  • WSU Mechanical and Materials Engineering External Advisory Board Member

In 2008, he established the Metallurgical Solutions Scholarship at Wright State University to support future engineers.
